Material Testing Services

Providing a comprehensive range of material testing services to ensure that materials meet provided specifications or tailored testing for more specific requirements. Materials testing can be conducted in isolation or as part of a wider investigation.

Vickers Hardness Testing | Materials Testing | SureScreen Materials

Vickers Hardness Testing

Instrument: Innovatest Falcon 600 G2

Vickers hardness testing provides an assessment of the hardness of metallic samples. UKAS accredited to BS EN ISO 6507 -1 at low-force (HV0.3,HV1 kgf) and macro (HV10) test forces. Testing is conducted in-house by an automated hardness tester with options to conduct profile and bulk measurements along with custom patterns and hardness mapping. Vickers hardness testing works by indenting a prepared surface with a pyramidal diamond and a known test force. The impression created in the surface can be measured and a Vickers number calculated. Vickers testing is versatile and is typically used for steels and hard alloys.

Brinell Hardness Testing | Material Testing | SureScreen Materials

Brinell Hardness Testing

Instrument: Innovatest Falcon 600 G2

Brinell hardness testing provides an assessment of the hardness of metallic samples. SureScreen Materials conduct Brinell hardness testing in accordance with BS EN ISO 6506-1 and common test forces covered include : 10/3000, 5/750, 2.5/62.5 and 1/30. Brinell hardness testing works by indenting a prepared surface with a tungsten carbide ball with a known test force. The resulting impression is measured and a Brinell hardness number calculated. Brinell hardness testing is typically used on soft metals and/or brittle materials and materials that display a greater proportion of inhomogeneity.

Corrosion Testing | Material Testing | SureScreen Materials

Corrosion Testing

Corrosion testing ensures materials are fit for purpose within their expected service environment by quantifying their performance in controlled corrosive conditions. We can conduct corrosion testing in-house to a range of standards including ASTM G48, ASTM A262, ISO 3651-2.

Tensile Impact Testing Sample | Material Testing | SureScreen Materials

Tensile Testing*

Tensile testing assesses the strength and ductility of materials, ensuring they meet provided standards. Tensile testing is done under various standards including ISO 6892-1 and those relevant to fastener testing such as ISO 898-1.

*While we outsource this service, we ensure that all testing is conducted by trusted partners.

Charpy Testing Sample | Material Testing | SureScreen Materials

Charpy Impact Testing*

Charpy Impact Testing service assesses the toughness of materials by measuring their resistance to impact. Utilising ISO 83, ISO 140, and ISO 148-1 standards, it provides accurate evaluations of how materials absorb energy during fracture, helping companies ensure their products can withstand sudden shocks and stresses. Charpy Impact Testing also plays a key role in broader failure investigations, offering insights into potential material weaknesses.
